CBS orders NCIS: New York spin-off with LL COOL J and Scott Caan

CBS has issued a series order for NCIS: New York, a new entry in the NCIS franchise starring LL COOL J as Sam Hanna and Scott Caan as a roguish agent. Scott Gemmill, creator of The Pitt and former showrunner on NCIS: Los Angeles, wrote the pilot script, per Deadline. Byron Balasco, known for Kingdom, will serve as showrunner. LL COOL J originated Sam Hanna on NCIS: Los Angeles, which concluded its 14-season run on CBS in 2023; he is also appearing as a guest in upcoming episodes of the flagship NCIS. Scott Caan brings experience from CBS's Hawaii Five-0, where he played Danny Williams from 2010 to 2020, including a 2012 crossover guest spot on NCIS: Los Angeles.
