Afghan Whigs release new song ahead of 40th anniversary tour

The Afghan Whigs have shared 'House of I', their first original song in four years. The track precedes the band's 40th anniversary tour starting next month. A new album is slated for release later this year.

The Afghan Whigs announced 'House of I' on March 19, 2026, marking their first original material since four years prior, following a pair of covers shared recently. Produced and mixed by Greg Dulli and Christopher Thorn, the song was recorded in New Orleans last summer. Dulli commented in a press release: “Laid this one down in New Orleans last summer. Was looking for an up tempo banger and feel like we found one here.” This release leads into the indie-rock band's 40th anniversary tour, which begins in late April and spans the United States from coast to coast, with Mercury Rev providing support at all dates. Key tour stops include: 04-25 Woodstock, NY - Bearsville Theater; 04-27 Boston, MA - Royale; 04-30 New York, NY - Webster Hall; 05-09 Chicago, IL - Metro; 05-19 San Francisco, CA - The Fillmore; and 05-20 Los Angeles, CA - The Bellwether, among others up to 05-24 Pioneertown, CA - Pappy & Harriet’s. According to the press release, a new album—sequel to How Do You Burn?—will arrive this year.
