Aintree to host Equiyd National Amateur and Veterans Championships for 17th year

British Showjumping has confirmed that Aintree International Equestrian Centre will host the Equiyd National Amateur and Veterans Championships in 2026, marking the 17th consecutive year at the venue. The event is scheduled for 10–15 November, with qualifiers already underway nationwide. It remains a beloved highlight for amateur and veteran riders due to its competitive opportunities and unique atmosphere.

British Showjumping announced on Monday 19 January 2026 that Aintree International Equestrian Centre will once again stage the Equiyd National Amateur and Veterans Championships. This prestigious event, now in its 17th year at the venue, underscores the centre's enduring role in the sport.

The championships are set for 10–15 November 2026. First-round qualifiers are currently taking place at British Showjumping events across the country, with the qualifying period running from 1 September to 31 August. Second-round dates will be revealed in April, and those competitions are planned for September and October.

Qualifying requires a double clear in the first round to advance to the second round, while achieving five such clears grants a direct entry to the finals at Aintree. In the second rounds, the top eight combinations that jump clear in the initial phase will secure spots at the championship show.

The event holds special appeal within the amateur and veteran community, offering not just competition but a distinctive sense of occasion. Carly Sage from Aintree International Equestrian Centre said: “Announcing the dates for the Equiyd National Amateur & Veteran Championships is always one of our favourite moments of the year. These championships mean so much to so many riders, and we’re proud that Aintree continues to be their home. The atmosphere, camaraderie and quality of sport make this a truly special event and we are looking forward to another great show.”

Iain Graham, Chief Executive of British Showjumping, added: “Aintree has been a fantastic home for the Equiyd National Amateur & Veterans Championships, and we are delighted to confirm their return in 2026. These Championships are incredibly important within our sport, and the team at Aintree consistently deliver an outstanding experience for riders, owners and supporters. It is one of the most popular shows on the calendar, and we look forward to another memorable Championship.”

Riders can find more details on eligibility in the British Showjumping Members Handbook. The championships celebrate the dedication and community spirit of participants against the backdrop of a cherished venue.
