Indonesian men's singles player Alwi Farhan and men's doubles pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin secured finals spots at the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026 after semifinal wins. They keep hopes alive for the host nation to claim titles at Istora Senayan in Jakarta on Saturday, January 24, 2026. Meanwhile, other Indonesian representatives were eliminated in the semifinals.
In the semifinals of the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2026, a BWF World Tour Super 500 event, Alwi Farhan defeated Chi Yu Jen of Chinese Taipei 21-11, 21-12 on court 1 at Istora Senayan. The win came in just 30 minutes, with Alwi controlling the match despite not being at 100 percent fitness. "I proved to myself that I am still capable. Maybe my condition isn't 100 percent, but my determination, willingness, and ambition are more than 100 percent," Alwi said after the match.
In men's doubles, Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin ousted fellow Indonesians Sabar Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani 21-19, 21-14. The first game was tight, ending with a slim margin, while the second saw the young pair dominate after leveling at 8-8. This avenged their loss to the same opponents at the Malaysia Open 2026.
However, Indonesia failed to add more finalists in other sectors. Women's doubles pair Lanny Tria Mayasari/Apriyani Rahayu lost 15-21, 9-21 to Pearly Tan/Thinaah Muralitharan of Malaysia, while Rachel Allessya Rose/Febi Setianingrum fell 12-21, 21-19, 13-21 to Arisa Igarashi/Miyu Takahashi of Japan. In mixed doubles, Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu exited dramatically 22-20, 19-21, 17-21 against Mathias Christiansen/Alexandra Boje of Denmark. "After switching courts, control became difficult. They had the wind advantage," Felisha remarked.
With two representatives in the finals, Istora crowds pin hopes on Alwi facing Panitchaphon Teeraratchakul of Thailand, and Raymond/Joaquin against the winner of Denmark vs Malaysia. Fan support remains a key factor for the hosts.
