American man booked for assaulting two U.S. soldiers

An American man in his 30s has been booked for allegedly assaulting two U.S. soldiers while intoxicated on a street in Pyeongtaek.

Police said the man is suspected of punching two U.S. Forces Korea service members in their 20s on a street in Pyeongtaek, some 60 kilometers south of Seoul, on Sunday.

The assailant reportedly told investigators he did not know the victims but was angered when they ignored him and used profanity against him.

The case drew attention after a video of the alleged assault circulated on social media, showing the man kicking and shoving one victim before threatening a woman next to him. When the other victim tried to intervene, the man punched him in the face, knocking him unconscious.

Police said they are investigating the details of the incident.
