Backrooms earned 118 million dollars worldwide in its opening weekend, marking a strong international debut for the A24 horror film. Obsession reached 148 million dollars globally while Michael climbed to 846.2 million dollars.
Backrooms collected 36 million dollars from international markets during its first weekend, topping charts in Latin America, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand, South Korea and several other regions. The Kane Parsons-directed movie outperformed prior A24 releases and other recent horror titles in multiple territories including a 12.7 million dollar haul in Latin America and 5.6 million dollars in the UK.
