Obsession posts record second weekend box office haul

The low-budget horror film Obsession earned $22 million in its second weekend, a 30 percent increase from its debut. The result marks an unusual hold for the genre and positions the movie for strong Memorial Day holiday totals.

Obsession grossed the amount from 2,655 North American theaters. The total through the holiday weekend is projected at $28.2 million. The film has now collected $58.5 million domestically and $74 million worldwide after opening to $17.2 million the prior weekend. It was made for less than $1 million.
