A new mod for Baldur's Gate 3 has brought back over 90 items cut during development, offering players dozens of hours of fresh content. Created by modder MaxStrengthWizard, the Ultimate Cut Content Restoration mod revives weapons, armor, and abilities from the game's early access phase. This addition highlights the ongoing vitality of the game's modding community.
The Ultimate Cut Content Restoration mod, released this week, integrates more than 90 items that Larian Studios removed during Baldur's Gate 3's development. These include weapons, armor, consumables, summon items, and multiple abilities, with some granting special perks and re-adding feats to the game. The mod makes these elements available through enemy treasure tables and shop inventories, effectively extending playtime by dozens of hours.
This restored content draws from the game's early access period, which started in October 2020. During that time, over 2.5 million players tested the Act 1 build, prompting Larian Studios to implement numerous changes before the full release in 2023.
Baldur's Gate 3, which boasts a 96 score on OpenCritic and has sold over 20 million copies, earned six awards at the 2023 Game Awards, including Game of the Year. It also received Best Community Support honors in both 2024 and 2025. Despite Larian Studios shifting focus—announcing a return to the Divinity series with a new untitled game at the 2025 Game Awards—the modding scene keeps the title alive.
In a related development, the AxiAU - Barovia mod introduces three photo maps inspired by the Curse of Strahd campaign, featuring locations like the Gates of Barovia and Svalich Woods. These serve as screenshot backdrops rather than playable areas. Meanwhile, the Project Strahd mod, underway since September 2024, aims to fully adapt the Curse of Strahd campaign into Baldur's Gate 3.
The broader Dungeons & Dragons gaming landscape grows with Solasta 2 set for Steam Early Access on March 12, 2026. Using the updated 5e 2024 rules and featuring voice actors from Baldur's Gate 3, it follows the Colwall siblings investigating their family's legacy and targets an early 2027 full release after at least a year in early access.
