Bob Dylan debuts Eddie Cochran cover at Omaha tour opener

Bob Dylan performed Eddie Cochran's 'Nervous Breakdown' for the first time at the opening show of his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour's 2026 leg. The concert took place on March 21 at the Orpheum Theatre in Omaha, Nebraska, featuring acoustic adjustments and rare songs. Phones were banned, but audio recordings have surfaced online.

Bob Dylan kicked off the 2026 leg of his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour on March 21 at the Orpheum Theatre in Omaha, Nebraska. The set included several changes from previous legs: guitarists Bob Britt and Doug Lancio switched to acoustic guitars from electric, Dylan used a small keyboard instead of his grand piano, and he played only six songs from Rough and Rowdy Ways rather than the usual nine. An electric guitar remained untouched on his amp throughout the night. The show opened with “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight” and featured rarities such as Oh Mercy's “The Man in the Long Black Coat,” played for the first time since 2013, Bo Diddley’s “I Can Tell,” and “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right.” The highlight was Dylan's debut live cover of Eddie Cochran’s 1958 rock’n’roll classic “Nervous Breakdown” near the end of the set. The full setlist comprised: “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight,” “Man In The Long Black Coat,” “All Along The Watchtower,” “I Contain Multitudes,” “False Prophet,” “Black Rider,” “Love Sick,” “Key West (Philosopher Pirate),” “I Can Tell,” “I’ve Made Up My Mind To Give Myself To You,” “Crossing The Rubicon,” “When I Paint My Masterpiece,” “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” “Soon After Midnight,” “Nervous Breakdown,” and “Every Grain Of Sand.” Phones were prohibited, preventing video but allowing audio captures to emerge online. A fan report described it as “the roughest concert of the Rough and Rowdy Ways tour” due to microphone issues, with Dylan adjusting it multiple times, causing loud booms. The tour, ongoing since November 2021, continues on March 22 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and runs until May 1 in Abilene, Texas, reaching over 300 shows total.
