The Milwaukee Brewers are giving right-hander Jacob Misiorowski additional rest instead of starting him against the Guardians this week.
The 24-year-old Misiorowski threw a 15-strikeout, one-hit complete-game shutout against the Phillies on Friday. Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold said the decision to skip a start against Cleveland was made before that outing.
Misiorowski did not appear on the probable pitchers list for the Guardians series. Robert Gasser, Brandon Sproat and Shane Drohan are scheduled instead.
Arnold said Misiorowski reported feeling great after his last start. He added that an extra breather could be beneficial.
If Misiorowski starts the series opener against the Braves in Atlanta on Friday, the Brewers could next use him against the Reds on June 24 or the Cubs on June 26.
