China steps up crackdown on telecom fraud and online gambling

China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Monday that the country will intensify efforts to combat telecom fraud, online gambling, and related cross-border crimes. This comes after reports of the execution of four members from the Bai family criminal syndicate, following the execution of 11 members from the Ming family group. China has cooperated with Myanmar and other nations, yielding notable results in curbing these crimes.

At a regular press briefing on Monday, China's Foreign Ministry responded to reports that four members of the Bai family criminal syndicate had been executed. Spokesperson Lin Jian noted that this followed the execution of 11 members from the Ming family criminal group. China has actively cooperated with Myanmar and other countries to crack down on cross-border telecom and online fraud crimes.

"Such cooperation has yielded notable results," Lin said, adding that the joint efforts aim to eradicate the scourge of online gambling and fraud, safeguard the lives and property of the people, and maintain orderly exchanges and cooperation among countries in the region.

Lin emphasized that China will continue to deepen international law enforcement cooperation and step up efforts to combat telecom fraud, online gambling, and other related cross-border criminal activities.
