Cornelius signs to Eat Your Own Ears and shares new cover song

Japanese composer Keigo Oyamada, known as Cornelius, has signed with the label Eat Your Own Ears. He released a cover of Yosui Inoue’s 1990 song “Yumenemi” as his first new music in two years. The track follows a recent burst of TikTok virality.

Cornelius, the project of Keigo Oyamada, announced a new phase with his signing to Eat Your Own Ears. The label deal coincides with the release of a cover of Yosui Inoue’s Balearic classic “Yumenemi,” also known as “Yume Ne Mi,” from 1990. A press release described the music as heralding renewed activity for the project after a period of relative quiet. Oyamada’s most recent prior releases were in 2024: an EP titled Bad Advice/Mind Train featuring Arto Lindsay and the ambient album Ethereal Essence. Those followed his 2023 LP Dream in Dream. Earlier, in the lead-up to that album, Oyamada exited the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony following the unearthing of an old interview where he apologized for bullying people with disabilities as a child. The scandal had marked a turbulent moment for the composer.
