Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya said: "It was not just about tonight; it has been the season where we have fallen short. Chennai played better than us in all three departments."
The top five Orange Cap holders remained unchanged, with Sanju Samson the only Chennai or Mumbai player in the top 10. Anshul Kamboj and Bhuvneshwar Kumar share the Purple Cap lead.
