The musicians who backed David Bowie during his legendary 2000 Glastonbury performance will reunite for a charity event in Scotland. The shows mark the 10th anniversary of Bowie’s death and benefit Save The Children. Performances are set for November 7 and 8 at Cameron House on Loch Lomond.
Guitarist Earl Slick, keyboardist Mike Garson, bassist Gail Ann Dorsey, multi-instrumentalist Mark Plati and drummer Sterling Campbell, the core band from David Bowie’s acclaimed Glastonbury 2000 set, have announced their reunion. The group will perform as part of the ‘Bowie: Live on the Loch’ weekend, supporting Save The Children. Special guest performers will join them on stage, with tickets now available for the events on November 7 and 8 at Cameron House on the banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland. The 2000 Glastonbury headline show, often called one of the festival’s greatest, was released in 2018 as a concert film and album. It featured Bowie blending new tracks with classics like ‘Ziggy Stardust’, ‘Heroes’ and ‘Let’s Dance’. The weekend includes additional attractions such as a black-tie gala dinner featuring cuisine from Michelin-starred chef Graeme Cheevers and a guitar auction led by Slick. The auction will feature signed, collector-grade instruments from artists including Peter Frampton and Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan. Slick commented on the charity aspect: “David had a lot of motivation to help out. It wasn’t a big bragging thing – it was just done. That’s what I loved about it. We all live in increasingly uncertain and turbulent times around the world. More kids need more help.”
