Doctors in Dalarna demand failure commission on Cosmic

A group of doctors in Dalarna is demanding an external failure commission and investigation to break the contract for the Cosmic journal system from Cambio. They claim it threatens patient safety after six months of use. Region leadership rejects the proposal.

A group of doctors in Region Dalarna, led by pediatrician Torbjörn Hemberg, has issued public demands to the region leadership. They call for an external investigation with lawyers, economists, and technicians to assess the costs of breaking the contract with Cambio and reverting to the previous Take care system. Factors like overtime, patient suffering, and staff well-being must be considered.

The demands follow a survey by Dalarnas läkarförening where over 400 doctors state patient safety is at risk. Previous petitions, work environment reports, and meetings have yielded no results. “We are rock-hard and sharp in our criticism. Cosmic has no future,” says Torbjörn Hemberg.

They also seek an independent failure commission to review the entire Cosmic procurement process. Further, they demand the region admit to a crisis and take responsibility for patient safety shortcomings. “Mistakes are being made now. It is deadly serious,” adds Hemberg.

Region director Johan Lindberg rejects the call for a failure commission. “I do not think that is the right way to go,” he says.
