Egypt Golf Series 2026 launched with 13 tournaments and $750,000 prize pool

Building on its historic financial turnaround announced last month, the Egyptian Golf Federation has launched the Egypt Golf Series 2026—a 13-tournament international professional circuit from January to April with a total prize fund of $750,000. The series aims to position Egypt as a golf hub in the Middle East and Africa while boosting tourism, expecting hundreds of players from over 35 countries. Federation President Omar Hisham Talaat unveiled details at a press conference in Madinaty Golf Club, attended by Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy.

Held under the auspices of the MENA Tour, Alps Tour, and Pro Golf Tour, the Egypt Golf Series 2026 is described by Talaat as the largest professional tournament agenda in Egyptian golf history. Tournaments will occur at premier venues including New Giza, Madinaty, Sokhna, Dreamland, Marassi, and Allegria, allowing Egyptian pros to earn Official World Golf Ranking points at home for international tours and Olympics qualification.

Reinvesting surplus funds from the federation's rapid transformation, the strategy emphasizes five priorities: public participation, talent development, national expertise, global events, and financial sustainability. Active players grew 30%, amateur practitioners doubled via school programs and training centers. The final quarter of 2025 was a 'golden era,' with four major events in four weeks, including the 104th Egyptian Amateur Open, Egyptian Ladies and Junior Open, and the Egyptian Open's return to Madinaty after 15 years.

The series is projected to draw 2,000 international visitors, generate $5.5 million in direct spending, tens of thousands of hotel nights, and a 15 million global media audience. Recent broadcasts reached over 1 million viewers. Minister Sobhy highlighted sports events' 2 million tourist nights since 2019 and anticipates a dedicated sports company, youth golf expansion via CSR-funded courses, and an Egyptian golf TV channel.
