Emberville reveals trailer and summer 2026 early access launch

Indie studio Cygnus Cross has unveiled the official trailer for Emberville, a pixel art action-RPG blending farming simulation with Diablo-style combat. The game, in development since 2023, features voice acting from notable talents like Doug Cockle and Alex Jordan. It is set for early access on PC via Steam this summer.

Cygnus Cross, an indie developer, quietly revealed Emberville in 2023 but held its official announcement trailer earlier this week, on January 28, 2026. The game positions itself as a hybrid of Stardew Valley's life-simulation elements and Diablo's action-RPG dungeon crawling, set in a foreboding prison known as the Vitromotus. Players arrive in a foggy, desolate ghost town called Emberville, tasked with rebuilding it through farming, fishing, gathering, crafting, and befriending townspeople, while venturing into dungeon-like areas for combat.

The trailer showcases a progression from a bleak, horror-tinged atmosphere to a brighter farming sim vibe as the town develops. Combat appears robust, with challenging bosses, a dynamic HUD that adapts to encounters, fast-paced mechanics, and a skill tree allowing perks to be inherited across classes. Customization is emphasized, including homestead design, stat improvements, and placing buildings or objects in the home base to boost abilities. The world is procedurally generated, featuring vast levels with unique events, enemies, and treasures. A dynamic UI system aims to streamline inventory management.

Notably, Emberville includes full voice acting for a pixel art indie title. Doug Cockle, known for voicing Geralt in The Witcher series and roles in Baldur’s Gate 3, joins Alex Jordan, recognized for Mr. Hands in Cyberpunk 2077 and characters in The Alters, who also serves as voice director. Cygnus Cross has teased further reveals of an 'all-star cast' in coming months. Ahead of launch, the game has garnered 145,000 wishlists on Steam.

Emberville enters early access on PC via Steam in summer 2026, promising a 'monstrously ambitious' take on the farm-and-fight genre with spooky pixel art vibes.
