He has made solid contact more frequently than stars such as Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani. After an 0-for-4 performance on Wednesday in San Francisco, he carries a .242/.311/.295 slash line into Thursday's series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals in San Diego. The Padres have dropped him to fifth in the batting order, his lowest spot since 2019.
