Flood victim in Aceh Tamiang tearfully pleads for aid three weeks on

Three weeks after a flash flood devastated Aceh Tamiang, many residents in isolated areas remain without aid. A viral video captures an elderly man crying as he begs volunteers for food assistance, revealing the destruction in his village from the November 26 disaster.

The flash flood that struck Aceh Tamiang on November 26, 2025, has left a profound trail of destruction. As of the third week, reported on December 19, 2025, many victims in isolated areas have yet to receive adequate assistance. A video uploaded to the Thread platform by the account @guardian_b0y on December 17, 2025, has drawn attention, showing an unnamed elderly man tearfully recounting his ordeal.

The man describes how the flood wiped out his plantation and home, disrupting his family's economy. "If we are not helped by volunteers, we don't eat, honestly," he says in a trembling voice. He expresses confusion over his children's future, as he can no longer afford their schooling. "My village is destroyed; what can I say, God has willed it this way, so we accept it. My wealth is gone, my garden is gone, there's nothing left for the future to pay for the children's school, and we can't manage it," he adds.

In the video, he points to his village covered in thick mud, with severely damaged houses and places of worship. While crying, the man pleads for simple help from visiting volunteers. "We beg the volunteer brothers and sisters to help us, help us as much as you can. We don't expect more, just enough so we can eat, alhamdulillah. Our village is already lost, our gardens are gone, our house of worship is no more," he says.

The video quickly went viral, receiving thousands of comments from social media users who shared in the victims' sorrow. This case highlights logistical challenges in remote areas post-disaster, where aid delivery remains hindered for many affected.
