Hong Kong internet personality Mr Ho dies at 79

Ho Huen, known online as Mr Ho, died at age 79 in a public hospital one day before 28 July 2026. The death came a week after he received a two-month prison sentence for wounding his wife.

A source told the South China Morning Post that Ho Huen died on 27 July 2026. He had been hospitalised for an undisclosed medical condition and was absent from court when the District Court handed down the sentence.

Ronson Chan Ron-sing, former chairman of the Hong Kong Journalists Association, confirmed the death on social media. Chan, who shared a cell with Ho during a five-day sentence, said: “He could not survive without being able to eat.”

The court had sentenced Ho to two months in prison for wounding his 45-year-old wife Ye Xiuding after learning of her plan to leave their flat for mainland China on 30 May 2025. Judge Stanley Chan Kwong-chi chose to conclude the case promptly.
