Former Hong Kong lawmaker Andrew Wan Siu-kin has been released from Stanley Prison after completing a four-year and eight-month sentence for subversion.
Andrew Wan Siu-kin left Stanley Prison on Saturday morning in a seven-seater vehicle believed to have been arranged by police.
Wan, of the now-defunct Democratic Party, had been convicted for his role in an unofficial LegCo primary under Hong Kong's national security law.
In a social media post after his release, he shared a smiling photo of himself and wrote: “I am having breakfast with my family members and friends now. It is a long-awaited reunion.”
He added that he had completed all of his terms and looked forward to starting the next chapter of his life.
