Football goalkeeper Hugo Mosshagen, 20, from BK Forward was shot dead in a residential area west of Örebro late Saturday evening. No one has been arrested and police report no links to gang crime. The city and club mourn the unpunished talent.
Late Saturday evening, just before midnight, police were alerted to a shooting in a residential area west of Örebro. Hugo Mosshagen, 20, goalkeeper for BK Forward's first team, was found shot outdoors and taken to hospital, where he later died. Witnesses heard several shots – one described three loud bangs and saw two people running in different directions while a third lay on the ground. Police confirm Hugo was completely unpunished and had no known gang connections. “We find no connection to organized crime,” says police spokesperson Anders Dahlman to TT. No one is arrested at present. Hugo dreamed of becoming a professional footballer and devoted all his time to it, according to father Joakim Gunnarsson. “His big dream was to become a football pro. He put all his time into it,” he says. The family, where Hugo was the eldest of four siblings, finds comfort in faith. Mother Marie Mosshagen says: “We feel he is with God. We know he is fine up there.” In BK Forward, he is described as a joy spreader and helpful teammate. Captain Josef Ibrahim: “It feels like a nightmare. He was a joy spreader.” The club has activated crisis support and gathered at Trängens IP. Hundreds gathered at Citykyrkan for a vigil, where friend Andreas Andersson called him “an incredible guy with a big heart.” A father of young children in the area felt uneasy after the shots. The club: “We mourn a very fine and talented guy.”
