Human skeletons in Kwitang identified as Farhan and Reno

Two human skeletons discovered in the ACC building in Kwitang, Central Jakarta, in late October 2025, have been identified as Muhammad Farhan Hamid and Reno Syahputra Dewo, missing since the riots at the end of August 2025. Metro Jaya Police detailed an intensive search involving multiple institutions. Identification was confirmed via DNA testing at RS Polri Kramat Jati.

The incident began with large-scale protests in Jakarta from August 25–31, 2025, escalating into riots at various points, including Kwitang. On August 29, the ACC office in Kwitang was burned and looted. Once the situation stabilized, police received missing persons reports, with KontraS submitting data on September 1, 2025.

Initial verification from September 2–10 located 40 out of 44 reported missing. Focus shifted to four names: Eko, Bima, Farhan, and Reno. On September 12, Metro Jaya Police established a Missing Persons Post. Eko was found in Central Kalimantan and Bima in East Java on September 17–18.

Analysis of Farhan's communication data from September 23–29 revealed he was last seen in Kwitang on August 29, like Reno. Meetings with KontraS on October 1 and 13 synchronized information, incorporating input from Komnas HAM, Komnas Perempuan, and other bodies for family protection.

On October 30, 2025, police discovered two skeletons in the 'underwriting room' on the second floor of the ACC building after detecting a foul odor. The skeletons were charred and buried under debris. Crime scene processing followed, with DNA samples collected, prioritized for Farhan and Reno's families.

DNA testing at RS Polri Kramat Jati concluded on November 4. Confirmation came on November 5–6: postmortem number 0080 matched Reno Syahputra Dewo, son of Muhammad Yasin; 0081 matched Muhammad Farhan Hamid, son of Hamidi. Bone analysis indicated both were male. Identification also used jewelry like a necklace and belt buckle.

"Our search efforts were conducted intensively and transparently. We collaborated with the missing persons post also formed by KontraS colleagues," said Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Metro Jaya Police AKBP Putu Kholis Aryana at a November 7, 2025 press conference. Brigjen Sumy Hastry Purwanti added, "Postmortem number 0080 matches antemortem 002, identifying it as Reno Syahputeradewo."

Metro Jaya Police pledged full support for the families, though the search phase is complete.
