Industria 2 developers apologize for poor Steam launch reviews

Bleakmill, the studio behind Industria 2, has apologized after the game's Steam release drew mixed reviews. The team acknowledged the criticism as fair while promising rapid patches to address bugs. Players have labeled the sequel half-baked following its debut on April 29.

Industria 2 launched on Steam for PC on April 29, 2026, receiving 48 percent positive ratings shortly after release. The atmospheric FPS, developed by Bleakmill, follows the 2021 original set in an alternate Cold War East Germany and drew comparisons to Half-Life and SOMA from excited fans since its 2024 announcement. However, the sequel has faced backlash for feeling unfinished, with complaints about bugs, stability, and rushed development possibly influenced by publisher Headup Games. Headup, which also handled the first game, was acquired by Microcuts Holding in 2024 after being sold by Thunderful Group. Bleakmill expressed disappointment on X, stating, “It hurts to be sitting at 48 percent positive ratings after putting all our hearts and souls into this game over 4 years.” The developers called the reviews “fair” and detailed ongoing fixes: “got 2 patches out last night, fixing saving issues and a softlock. Focusing on stability and keybind issues next. Then more content updates.” Support has come from peers in the industry. Gloomwood designer Dillon Rogers encouraged the team, writing, “There’s not a huge number of reviews yet and many seem amicable to flip once things are patched, so I think it’s entirely possible to recover from this launch.” Garry Newman, creator of Garry’s Mod, shared a meme implying such launches are common for developers.
