Jackson Koivun secured another national championship for Auburn on Wednesday. The standout amateur now faces a choice on when to turn professional.
Koivun defeated UCLA’s Baylor Larrabee 4 and 3 in the final match as Auburn defeated UCLA 4-1 to claim the title. The Auburn junior has compiled 11 career wins, including six this season, and became the first player in 50 years to win three straight SEC titles. He has already earned a PGA Tour card through the PGA Tour University Accelerated Program but deferred membership to remain an amateur through the 2025-26 season. Koivun cited plans to compete in the Walker Cup, the 2026 U.S. Open, the Open Championship, and another title for Auburn. Koivun told Golf Channel that a decision will come after returning to Auburn. “We’re gonna get back to Auburn and recoup,” he said. His PGA Tour membership extends through the 2027 season, giving him flexibility on timing. The 2026 U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills is set for two weeks from now, followed by the Open at Royal Birkdale. A potential U.S. Amateur title in August or Walker Cup appearance in September could extend his amateur career further.
