Jean-Dominique Senard to leave Renault presidency in 2027

Jean-Dominique Senard, 73, will not seek renewal of his administrator mandate at Renault's 2027 shareholders' meeting. He will thus leave his position as the carmaker's president. The information, first reported by La Tribune, was confirmed to Le Figaro.

Jean-Dominique Senard has held Renault's presidency since January 2019. He was appointed amid a governance crisis following the arrest and imprisonment in Japan of Carlos Ghosn, then CEO of both Renault and Nissan.

Tensions were high at the time with Nissan, the alliance partner. Senard managed to ease these relations before untying the operational and capital links with the Japanese carmaker.

Prior to Renault, Senard led Michelin from 2012 to 2019. He had previously worked at Saint-Gobain and Pechiney, gaining deep expertise in the automotive sector.

Renault's board and the French State, holding a 15% stake, must now find a successor to tackle the challenges of a rapidly changing automotive market.
