Jordan Lee defeats Cruz Hewitt to win Wimbledon boys title

American qualifier Jordan Lee rallied to beat Cruz Hewitt 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 in the boys' singles final at Wimbledon on Sunday. The 16-year-old became only the second qualifier to claim the title at a Grand Slam. Lee overcame injury setbacks to secure his first major junior crown on grass.

The match on Court 1 lasted one hour and 56 minutes. Lee dropped the opening set but leveled the contest before breaking Hewitt's serve at love in the deciding set's final game.

Lee spoke after the victory about his recent challenges. “For me, standing here with the trophy means a lot,” he said. “Very few people know what I have been through this past year and a half, dealing with a lot of injuries.”

The win marked Lee as the 13th American boy to lift the Wimbledon junior trophy and the first since Samir Banerjee in 2021. Hewitt, the 17-year-old son of former champion Lleyton Hewitt, had not dropped a set en route to the final.
