Josh O’Connor, a Golden Globe winner, shared details of the tight security surrounding the script for Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day. While shooting Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery in the UK, O’Connor received the David Koepp-penned screenplay at his hotel via motorbike delivery. The script was collected the next morning in the same manner, marking a first for the actor, as he told the Associated Press. “There was, of course, a level of secrecy. When I received the script I was filming Knives Out and I was in a hotel and a motorbike turned up with the script, and a motorbike turned up to take away the script the next morning,” O’Connor said. “That’s the first time that’s happened for me.” He called it a “very strange experience but it makes sense,” noting the high anticipation for any Spielberg project. “Anytime you hear that Steven’s got a film coming out, everyone, myself included, wants to know what it is, so I totally understand why.” Disclosure Day stars O’Connor as Daniel, a cybersecurity expert who uncovers government secrets about extraterrestrial life and plans to whistleblow. Plot details have remained closely guarded ahead of the June 12 theatrical premiere. Spielberg, who previously delved into extraterrestrial themes in Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), discussed the film’s intrigue at CinemaCon this month. Speaking to Colman Domingo, he said, “It’s entirely shrouded in mystery. There are those who know exactly what is happening in our skies [and] this movie will cause you to ask a lot of questions.” Spielberg added, “This is a movie that needs to be experienced, and what you need to get from the beginning to the end is a seatbelt.”
