Kim inspects new nuclear material facility, vows exponential buildup

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected a newly launched nuclear material production facility on June 3 and vowed to exponentially strengthen the country's nuclear forces.

According to the Korean Central News Agency, Kim visited the facility with key party officials. The location was not disclosed.

Kim said the country's weapons-grade nuclear material production capacity more than doubled over the past five years. He stressed the need to expand the nuclear deterrent in both quality and quantity in a sustained and accelerated way.

An important consultative meeting on bolstering nuclear forces was held at the site, where Kim issued action guidelines. He described the event as an epochal milestone in upgrading nuclear capabilities.

Photos released by KCNA showed rows of cylindrical centrifuges used for uranium enrichment.
