Knäbäckshusen beach reopens after storm damage

Two years after Storm Babet, Knäbäckshusen beach in Simrishamn Municipality has reopened to swimmers. A new staircase has been built and the barriers are gone.

The new staircase to the beach is now complete. Patricia Åberg, project coordinator at Simrishamn Municipality, says it is open for visitors.

The beach was closed for two swimming seasons due to damage from the 2023 storm. The area features an unusually light and fine-grained sandy strip framed by a lush slope and open sea.

Åberg warns however that damage from Storm Babet may cause trees to fall onto the beach. To the north, the silhouette of Stenshuvud is visible.
