Korea Eximbank donates 500 million won vehicles to 18 multicultural centers

The Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank) has donated vehicles worth 500 million won ($375,000) to 18 multicultural family support centers nationwide. The handover ceremony for the 18 vehicles—nine vans and nine compact cars—took place Thursday at the bank's headquarters in Seoul's Yeouido district.

The Export-Import Bank of Korea (Korea Eximbank) delivered a total of 18 vehicles—nine vans and nine compact cars—to 18 multicultural family support centers across the country via the Community Chest of Korea. This initiative, one of the bank's key corporate social responsibility programs, has been running since 2011, providing 156 vehicles worth 3.36 billion won to such institutions over the past 15 years.

The handover ceremony occurred Thursday at the bank's headquarters in Seoul's Yeouido financial district. Attendees included Korea Eximbank Chairman and CEO Hwang Ki-yeon, Lee Sang-ik, acting secretary general of the Community Chest of Korea, and representatives from centers in Jeonju and Daegu.

"These vehicles will greatly improve access to services for marriage immigrants, children from multicultural backgrounds and other residents who have had difficulty visiting centers due to long distances," said Lee Hae-kyung, executive director of the Jeonju Family Center.

Hwang noted that the bank has consistently supported the stable settlement of multicultural families and other new members of society. "Marking our 50th anniversary, we have increased our annual donation by 200 million won compared to last year," he said. "We will continue to strengthen local welfare infrastructure and fulfill our social responsibilities."
