Korea's The Love erotic film series holds third screening on May 9

Seoul-based One More Pink cineclub's erotic film series The Love will hold its third screening on May 9. Two documentaries on Korean sex workers' lives will screen, challenging long-standing taboos and censorship in Korea. The series, led by Jeon Suhyun and Hyeisoo Kim, began last year.

The Love series, launched by One More Pink's Jeon Suhyun and Amsterdam's Porn Film Festival Amsterdam (PFFA) organizer Hyeisoo Kim, held two screenings at small Seoul venues last year. Inspired by PFFA, Jeon formed One More Pink to 'imagine and experiment with meetings at the intersection of cinema, sexuality, and community.'

Kim described erotic films' role to audiences: “Porn is primarily not just about sex but about showing relationships between people,” adding that it “suggests a kind of intimacy that we can all enjoy” across genders and body types. Jeon noted the process: “People come and realize that it’s not the existing porn... The strategy for sex liberation is that we can make it by doing it.”

Collaboration with publicly funded Indiespace required avoiding transgender-themed works and the word 'porn,' causing some members to leave, but Kim's support continued the effort. The first screening's flyer featured “Sex is disgusting because I’m disgusting” to resonate with Korean women's internalized self-loathing around sexuality.

On May 9 at 5:30 p.m., Ilhran Kim and Hye-young Cho's “Mamasang: Remember Me This Way” (2005) screens, followed by Jang Yun-mi's “Miari Texas” (2025) at 7 p.m., with a Q&A by Jang. Tickets cost 8,000 won per film, limited to 30. Entry restricts minors and bans filming.
