Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating communications between former Pati Regent Sudewo and the local DPRD chairman regarding an impeachment issue, along with the role of his 'team eight' in conditioning projects and elections. Witnesses were examined on February 24, 2026, to uncover alleged extortion in village positions and railway project bribery. The case stems from a sting operation on January 19, 2026.
Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) continues to investigate the corruption case involving former Pati Regent Sudewo. On February 24, 2026, investigators examined Pati Regency DPRD Chairman Ali Badrudin (ALB) regarding communications with Sudewo about a local head impeachment issue. "From the DPRD side, they were examined or delved into regarding conversations or communications conducted by Mr. SDW with DPRD parties, especially regarding the plan or impeachment issue that was circulating at the time," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo.
Additionally, the KPK suspects Sudewo arranged projects in Pati Regency through his 'team eight,' which was his election success team. "It is suspected that there was conditioning done by Team Eight on the orders of Mr. SDW," Budi Prasetyo stated. Witnesses from the Pati Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (PUTR), including Head Riyoso (RYS), were questioned to trace involved projects. "Of course, investigators are still continuing to trace and delve into what projects were suspected of being conditioned," he added.
The KPK also questioned Acting Regent of Pati Risma Ardhi Chandra as a witness to explain the composition of the Sudewo-Risma success team in the 2024 regional election. "Explaining the composition of the Sudewo-Risma campaign team in the Pati Regency Pilkada, as well as other matters related to the process," Budi Prasetyo clarified. Investigators are delving into the team's role toward Risma and Pati KPU Chairman Supriyanto in the head of region election.
The case began with a KPK sting operation (OTT) on January 19, 2026, in Pati Regency, arresting Sudewo. On January 20, 2026, the KPK announced four suspects in the extortion of village apparatus positions: Sudewo (SDW), Abdul Suyono (YON), Sumarjiono (JION), and Karjan (JAN). Sudewo was also named a suspect in bribery for railway line construction and maintenance under the Ministry of Transportation.
