Labrinth explains removal of music from Euphoria season 3

British musician Labrinth has clarified his decision to remove his music from HBO's Euphoria season 3, stating he does not let people treat him poorly. The 37-year-old composer shared the explanation on his Instagram Stories on April 11, 2026. The show's third season premieres the following day with Hans Zimmer as the sole composer.

Labrinth, whose real name is Timothy Lee McKenzie, posted a statement in all caps on his Instagram Stories. “PEOPLE WILL COMFORTABLE LIE IN THIS INDUSTRY AND STILL CALL THEMSELVES HONEST PEOPLE,” he wrote. “SO NO CAP. I DECIDED TO REMOVE WHAT EVER MUSIC I HAD IN IT. I SPOKE TO HBO AS FAR I KNOW WE ARE COOL. I LEFT BECAUSE. LAST TRUTH. WHEN I WORK FOR SOMEONE, THEIR VISION IS PARAMOUNT TO ME. BUT I DON’T LET PEOPLE TREAT ME LIKE S—T.” He performed at the 2026 Coachella festival's outdoor stage that same day, April 11. Labrinth had previously expressed frustration in a mid-March Instagram post, now deleted, that read: “I’M DONE WITH THIS INDUSTRY / F—K COLUMBIA / DOUBLE F–K EUPHORIA / I’M OUT.” He has been the lead score producer for Euphoria since its 2019 debut and won an Emmy for the season 1 song “All For Us.” Other tracks include “Never Felt So Alone” with Billie Eilish. Euphoria creator Sam Levinson addressed the situation in an interview with Rolling Stone. “I don’t know,” Levinson said of Labrinth's departure. “He’s an incredible collaborator and someone who really built the foundation of the sound of Euphoria.” Levinson noted that Hans Zimmer, an Oscar winner and prior collaborator with Labrinth, will compose the eight episodes alone. The season jumps five years ahead, with characters facing adult issues, including Rue (Zendaya) in legal trouble. Season 3 premieres April 12 on HBO Max, with a special screening at Coachella. Zendaya has hinted it may be the final season.
