Lazy Game Reviewer builds bunker for PC gaming collection

Clint Basinger, known online as Lazy Game Reviewer, has completed a dedicated 1,800-square-foot insulated concrete bunker to safeguard his collection of PC gaming oddities. The project gained urgency after Hurricane Helene damaged his North Carolina home in 2024. Most of the collection survived the flood, with only 5 percent lost beyond repair.

Basinger shared a tour of the new structure in a recent YouTube video, calling it a significant expansion of his long-term preservation efforts. “What have I done,” he said at the start. “This has grown in scope as I’ve gotten into this project. The past several months now… have been me and contractors and builders and designers and stuff putting all this together. It’s been a heck of a thing.” Prior to the bunker, he had been renting storage units at $900 a month to protect the items after the storm's destruction to his home left his family safe but their property severely damaged. The modern gaming gear affected was replaceable, Basinger noted, while the irreplaceable oddities—amassed over more than a decade—mostly endured. For nearly 20 years, Basinger has documented video game esoterica and niche hardware, such as novelty mice and Hot Wheels computer towers, earning a reputation for his friendly style amid YouTube's gaming scene. Post-Helene, he guided fans to support local recovery efforts. Construction involved clearing trees and debris before pouring concrete, creating what he likened to a gamer's seed vault. “Pretty darn good,” Basinger said of the bunker. “I think it’s better than parts of my house.” The space now stands ready to house his collection of gaming strangeness.
