LN-Sport Award: Nominees for team of the year 2025 introduced

Five teams from the LN region are nominated for the 'Team of the Year' 2025 title. They achieved extraordinary successes last year and will succeed VfL Lübeck-Schwartau. Voting runs until January 8.

The LN-Sport Award 2025 in Lübeck will honor the best team of the year, with sports fans deciding. The nominees include teams from various disciplines that impressed with outstanding performances.

JFV Lübeck U19 (football) clinched the Regionalliga Nord championship in November and promoted to the DFB-Nachwuchsliga for the first time. They recorded 11 wins and 1 draw in 13 games, losing only the last one. Their Bundesliga adventure starts the first February weekend against teams like Hansa Rostock or Hertha BSC. They also reached the Landespokal semi-final.

VfL Lübeck-Schwartau (handball) survived in the 2. Handball-Bundesliga dramatically: They won 30:21 against HSC Coburg on the last matchday, securing relegation avoidance for the 18th consecutive season. In the current season, they went unbeaten in eight games, earned 15:1 points since late October, and finished the first half in seventh place.

CE Timmendorf (ice hockey) narrowly missed the playoff semifinals at the start of the year, losing 3:4 to Hamburg Crocodiles. Currently, the 'Beach Devils' are fourth, winning six of eight home games and attracting an average of 821 spectators – 100 more than last year.

SV Todesfelde's women's handball team promoted to the 3. Liga after a break and won their first 11 games with 22:0 points, claiming the Herbstmeisterschaft. They have no home losses since March 16, 2024, and plan to apply for a 2. Bundesliga license by late February.

TSV Trittau (badminton) promoted to the Bundesliga in spring and won the second division championship. In the Bundesliga, they have only one point from seven games and are last, but benefit from no relegation this season.

Fans can vote until January 8, including with their own suggestions from the LN region.
