Luleå keeps door open for forward Sundqvist

Luleå Hockey has not ruled out a possible return for Oskar Sundqvist after his NHL contract expired. Sports chief Thomas Fröberg confirmed there is no active dialogue at present but said the club would consider the 32-year-old if he reaches out.

Sundqvist's deal with the St. Louis Blues ended on Wednesday. The same day Alexander Steen took over as the club's sports director and announced plans to rejuvenate the roster.

Fröberg said he last tried to contact Sundqvist after an injury but received no reply. He has spoken with the player's agent, who indicated Sundqvist wants to explore NHL options first.

The club does not plan additional signings and intends to give younger players opportunities. Fröberg added that a Norrbotten native with Sundqvist's record would still be evaluated if he expressed interest in joining.

"It is a player who can decide if we win gold or not," Fröberg said.
