Former NASA engineer and content creator Mark Rober is developing a new Netflix series titled Schooled!, featuring student teams competing in science challenges. The show aims to discover the next generation of inventors and engineers through creative and explosive experiments. Netflix is currently holding open casting calls for school-aged participants.
Mark Rober, known for his science-focused content and as the founder of CrunchLabs in 2022, has announced a new competition series for Netflix called Schooled!. Rober, a former NASA engineer, will executive produce the show alongside Scott Lewers for CrunchLabs, Jimmy Kimmel and Scott Lonker for Kimmelot, with Daniel Calin serving as showrunner and executive producer.
The series follows teams of student tinkerers as they compete in creative and explosive science challenges within a fully gamified school environment. According to the logline, Rober is on a mission to identify the next generation of inventors, makers, and engineers, with winners receiving a life-changing prize. Netflix has begun open casting sessions to recruit school-aged participants, though no release date has been announced.
This project builds on Rober's previous efforts, including a show of the same name launched in November 2025 that garnered over 12 million views in its first two months. Additional episodes of that series are scheduled for March 16.
Rober expressed enthusiasm for the Netflix collaboration, stating, “I couldn’t be more stoked to team up with Netflix and Jimmy Kimmel to bring Schooled! to life. Our series is about giving kids a stage big enough for their ideas. This will be the ultimate playground for science, creativity, and competition to come together. I’m so pumped to see what these students come up with. My expectations are high. I’m ready to be blown away.”
John Derderian, Netflix's VP for kids and family TV, highlighted the show's appeal: “Mark Rober is a master of the ‘wow’ moment, and we’ve seen firsthand how much our members love his unique brand of science-fueled spectacle. We’re taking that energy to the next level with Schooled! It isn’t just a competition; it’s a celebration of creativity and engineering. It’s exactly the kind of co-viewing experience that brings families together, and we can’t wait to see what these young makers and tinkerers create in the halls of CrunchLabs Academy.”
