Pegula and Keys shed tears over Brady knee injury woes

Jessica Pegula and Madison Keys broke down in tears during a June 4 podcast while listening to fellow American Jennifer Brady describe her ongoing knee injury struggles. Brady revealed she suffered the latest setback in April and will miss Wimbledon. The emotional exchange highlighted the close bonds among the players.

Brady detailed her knee injury from an ITF event in Charlottesville in April. She received PRP injections and confirmed she would not return in time for Wimbledon.

"I was hoping to be able to play the French Open and Wimbledon. But unfortunately, I ended up getting a couple of PRP injections," Brady said on the Players Box podcast. She added that Pegula had given her a motivational talk about why she loves tennis.

Both Pegula and Keys began crying as Brady became emotional. Keys offered support, stating, "We would give you a hug if we were with you. Tears are good, tears mean you’re alive."

Pegula noted the moment by saying, "Is this our first time crying on the pod? We need to mark this down, June 4th." Brady has faced repeated knee issues since 2021, resulting in long absences and a ranking drop to 689.
