Police warn of catalytic converter thefts in Dalarna

Several car owners in Dalarna have been hit by thefts where catalytic converters were removed from parked vehicles in recent days. Police urge greater vigilance, especially in the Borlänge area.

The Swedish Police Authority reports that perpetrators remove catalytic converters from parked vehicles in just a few minutes. The crimes have mainly affected car owners in Borlänge but could spread to other parts of the region.

To protect themselves, police recommend parking in locked garages or in lit areas with good visibility. Anyone affected should contact police immediately and file a report before moving the vehicle to allow for a crime scene investigation.

Tips about suspicious events can be given to police on 114 14. For ongoing crimes, always call 112.
