Protest interrupts Rage performance at Dramaten

A woman stormed the stage during the final act of the play 'Rage' at Dramaten in Stockholm, interrupting the performance with a protest. She carried a banner and shouted about culture's passivity, according to witnesses. The show resumed after a short pause without police involvement.

During the performance of 'Rage' at Dramaten in Stockholm, the final scene was interrupted when a woman rushed onto the stage with a banner and began shouting. Lena Thörner, Dramaten's press officer, says the woman yelled something like 'culture is toothless if we don't act.' Dagens ETC reports it was a climate activist behind the action.

Clara Söderberg, who was watching the play for the second time with her mother, describes the shock: 'Both my mom and I were so shocked that I didn't even read what was on her banner, and we didn't understand what she was shouting about. It happened so fast we couldn't take it in.' Many in the audience initially thought the protest was part of the show, as 'Rage' is a futuristic depiction based on nationalist and fascist trends in Europe and the US, according to Dramaten.

A theater employee went onstage and asked the actors to step off temporarily. The woman was then led away and left the venue voluntarily after speaking with staff. No police or security were called. The performance resumed after a brief pause.

The play 'Rage' explores current political currents, and the incident highlighted the audience's confusion between fiction and reality.
