Rajasthan urges diaspora to contribute to state's prosperity

At the first Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas in Jaipur on Wednesday, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma urged non-resident Rajasthanis to play a role in building a modern and prosperous state. The event saw the groundbreaking of investment proposals worth ₹1 lakh crore. Union Minister Piyush Goyal noted that the diaspora has strengthened the state's identity through their efforts.

The first-ever Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas was held in Jaipur on December 10, 2025, inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. He appealed to the Rajasthani diaspora to stay connected to their roots and contribute to making the state modern and prosperous. The event was attended by Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Bhupender Yadav, and C.R. Patil.

Memorandums of understanding worth ₹1 lakh crore were launched, bringing the total implemented investments from the 'Rising Rajasthan' global investment summit in December 2024 to ₹8 lakh crore out of signed agreements totaling ₹35 lakh crore. Sharma stated that with more than 24 new policies, Rajasthan has become the most preferred state for investment in the country.

The establishment of 14 new chapters of the Rajasthan Foundation was announced, with nine abroad and five in various states, to strengthen ties with non-resident Rajasthanis (NRRs). Nine distinguished NRRs were honored.

The Chief Minister highlighted significant progress in various sectors and resolution of power and water crises. "Every sector in Rajasthan holds immense potential, including education, tourism, and mining. The state produces 85 different types of minerals," he said, inviting the diaspora to invest across sectors.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said, "NRRs have enhanced the state's reputation and established its true identity through their hard work, struggles, and success." The Centre is supporting Rajasthan in industrial development, tourism, energy, and social upliftment.

A Pravasi Rajasthani policy was unveiled to provide a roadmap for facilities and investment opportunities for NRRs. The state government has established a dedicated department for NRRs to enhance communication, cooperation, investment, and cultural connections. Sessions on industries such as energy, water, mining, education, tourism, and health were organized. Distinguished NRRs including Vedanta founder Anil Agarwal, Aditya Birla Group chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla, Avaada Group chairman Vineet Mittal, and Piramal Group chairman Ajay Piramal held interactions.

Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagade, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and Union Minister of State for Agriculture Bhagirath Choudhary were also present.
