Record interest in Vansbrosimningen with 42 percent increase

Interest in Vansbrosimningen is rising sharply. The number of registered participants has increased by 42 percent compared to last year.

Vansbrosimningen is expected to gather about 14 000 participants this year. That is almost as many as in 2016 when 15 471 people took part.

The number of participants has risen steadily since the pandemic. The race has been arranged for 14 years and is at most 2.8 kilometers long.

To get a better starting position swimmers can take part in seeding races. One such race was held at the weekend in Falun with around 70 participants aged 6 to 76.

Gunnar Kihlberg who organises Runn Open Water says the race has a deal with Vansbrosimningen. Kerstin Tunzi from Gävle has taken part in Vansbrosimningen 22 times.
