Returning OFWs can now apply for college degrees online

Overseas Filipino workers returning from the Middle East can now register online to convert years of experience into academic credits for college degrees via the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program. The Commission on Higher Education launched the ENROLL online enlistment system to aid OFW reintegration. Displaced OFWs and skilled workers with at least five years of experience are prioritized.

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Higher Education announced that repatriated overseas Filipino workers from the Middle East can now register online under the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program, or ETEEAP, to earn college degrees based on their work experience.

Pre-assessment will occur through the ETEEAP National Registration and Onboarding for Lifelong Learning. CHED chairperson Shirley Agrupis said the ENROLL online system will "improve employment readiness, enable career mobility and support the reintegration of OFWs into the local workforce through accessible and credible pathways to formal credentials."

Enlistment kiosks will be available at state universities, colleges and private higher education institutions for on-site registration, pre-assessment and advising. As of February, 333 OFWs have graduated through ETEEAP, with many securing promotions or better job opportunities, according to CHED data.

Meanwhile, Philippine Airlines is resuming Manila-Riyadh flights effective April 10, including a brief technical stop in Bangkok for safety.
