A nota da Abra destacou que ele era roteirista, diretor, dramaturgo, pai e motoqueiro. "Rene foi dessas pessoas que carregam muitas vidas dentro de uma só", diz o texto.

A atriz Drica Moraes lamentou a perda. "Que tristeza enorme. Todo meu amor aos familiares e amigos", escreveu ela. Belmonte vinha se dedicando ao teatro e a curtas-metragens como 'Originários'.
