Security drill at Ahmedabad's International Sports Complex

Ahmedabad Police, Chetak commandos and multiple security agencies conducted a joint drill at the newly built International Sports Complex in Naranpura. The exercise prepared for crisis situations like terrorist attacks, testing coordination and response capabilities. It lasted nearly five hours with full citizen cooperation.

A joint drill was conducted by Ahmedabad Police, Chetak commandos and multiple security agencies at the newly constructed International Sports Complex in Ahmedabad's Naranpura area, according to a state government statement on Wednesday. Held in preparation for upcoming major events and potential security challenges, the exercise tested the coordination, response capacity and management capabilities of various agencies during crises. The statement said, “The main objective of this mock drill was to test the coordination, response capacity and management capabilities of various security agencies during times of crisis. A live demonstration was given of how security forces take prompt and effective action in the event of a terrorist attack or other emergency in a huge sports complex where thousands of people are in attendance.” A hypothetical scenario simulated 'terrorists' infiltrating the complex. Upon report, teams from local police, crime branch and SOG (Special Operation Group) immediately surrounded the area, conducting a strategic search with drone cameras. Chetak commandos skilfully evacuated trapped citizens, while GVK-EMRI ambulances and medical teams provided immediate aid to the injured. The nearly five-hour exercise saw traffic diverted in surrounding areas, with citizens fully cooperating with police.
