Self Esteem plans hiatus after summer shows

Self Esteem has announced plans to take a break from music after completing her summer festival dates. The Sheffield artist, whose real name is Rebecca Lucy Taylor, aims to step away from the industry’s demands to create better work.

Speaking on the red carpet at the 2026 Ivor Novello Awards, Taylor said she needs time to reflect. She explained that she wants to avoid the pressure of constantly producing more content in an industry that takes without limit. “I’m making myself stop so I can have a think and I can make some better art for it,” she told NME.
