Shaboozey announces concept album The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales

Shaboozey revealed his fourth studio album, the concept project The Outlaw Cherie Lee & Other Western Tales, set for release on July 31 via American Dogwood in partnership with EMPIRE. The album follows a revenge story centered on protagonist Cherie Lee. A lead single, “Born to Die,” arrives this Friday.

Shaboozey described the album as a western narrative about revenge, redemption, and romance. In the story, Cherie Lee witnesses her sheriff father killed by the Bootcut Boys and seeks vengeance, only to fall in love with one of the outlaws, leading to disastrous consequences. “The Outlaw Cherie Lee is a project that’s been several years in the making and has gone through many iterations,” Shaboozey said in a statement. “It’s a western about revenge told continuously through every song, centered on the character Cherie Lee.” The artist also released a trailer narrated by Jamie Foxx, featuring the line “There’s a hefty price to pay for revenge” amid scenes of a flaming Wild West town. Shaboozey noted that his previous album, 2024’s Where I’ve Been, Isn’t Where I’m Going, served as “a journal entry” to introduce himself personally, while this project showcases him as “an artist and storyteller.” That record included the Hot 100 No. 1 “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” for 19 weeks and Grammy-winning “Amen” with Jelly Roll. To promote the album, Shaboozey plans a pop-up saloon experience at Stagecoach from April 24 to 26, immersing fans in the narrative’s saloon setting. The project features genre-melding collaborations, building on past work with artists like Jelly Roll, Stephen Wilson Jr., Sierra Ferrell, and BigXthaPlug. As of now, the tracklist remains unannounced.
