Soft Cell set final album Danceteria for September release

Soft Cell will release their final studio album Danceteria on September 25 via Republic of Music. The title track is out now with a video by collage artist Vicki Bennett.

Soft Cell co-founder Dave Ball died last year at age 66, shortly after the album was completed. Marc Almond described the project as a tribute to the duo’s time in New York during the early 1980s. In a press release Almond said, “Danceteria is a love letter to New York in the early ’80s.” He added that the period shaped the band as artists and people, calling the album a fitting farewell to Ball. Almond also noted there can be no more Soft Cell recordings without Ball. The band is currently touring North America with the Human League and Alison Moyet on the Generations Tour.
