West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi provided Rp15 million in aid to viral old-school ice cake seller Sudrajat, including Rp5 million for business capital. However, Sudrajat's admission of wanting to sell ice during the rainy season disappointed Dedi. Additionally, Sudrajat changed his assault story from police to thugs, and he expressed a desire for a car despite receiving a motorcycle from Depok Police Chief.
Sudrajat, a 50-year-old old-school ice cake seller who went viral after a violence incident, received various aids from public figures. Last weekend, he met West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, who provided Rp15 million in cash assistance. The funds were allocated for one year's rent at Rp9.6 million, paying off shop and child's school debts of Rp400,000, and Rp5 million for business capital.
In the meeting, recorded on Dedi Mulyadi's YouTube on January 31, 2026, Dedi asked about Sudrajat's readiness to resume selling. "When will you start trading again?" Dedi inquired. Sudrajat replied, "Tomorrow, sir," and confirmed having a yoke at home.
The RW head present stated Sudrajat still wanted to sell old-school ice cakes. This disappointed Dedi, as the current rainy season does not favor ice sales. "Selling ice in this rain won't sell," Dedi said. Sudrajat felt uneasy about leaving fellow ice sellers, despite previously expressing interest in selling fritters. However, he admitted lacking capital to switch.
Additionally, Sudrajat altered his account of the violence. Previously, he claimed assault by babinsa and bhabinkamtibmas members, but before Dedi, he said the perpetrator was a thug in Kemayoran. "It was destroyed. Then thrown in my face, my face punched, slapped," Sudrajat recounted. The thug has not been arrested by police. Dedi appeared confused and reconfirmed, "Who punched you? A thug."
Meanwhile, on January 28, 2026, Depok Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Abdul Waras gave Sudrajat a motorcycle. In a TV show with Rian Ibram and Dewi Perssik, Sudrajat admitted he actually wanted a car. "I really wanted to ask for a car," he said. He planned to use the car for family outings, driven by his child, and was willing to make installments if given one.
